What you get
A monthly membership on our online community platform, delivered entirely online. Members get:
- A daily 6-minute guided practice (audio) using slow breathing and imagery
- A simple 30-second self-check before and after each practice, so you can see your own changes over time
- Short video lessons (3–5 minutes) explaining why the body responds before the mind
- A personal progress report on day 13 of your trial, based on your own records
- A weekly 20-minute live session (Fridays, 12:30–12:50 Japan time), audio only, no camera required
- A 90-day lesson series after the trial, with one new lesson released each week
- A members-only community space where you can read, react, or simply listen
How it works
Try this now. Imagine biting into a freshly cut lemon.
Did your mouth water? You did not tell your body to do that. It responded to an image alone.
Our bodies respond to what we imagine, in both directions: toward stress, and toward calm. kage-lab is built on this simple observation. Instead of trying to argue with stress, members practice short daily exercises that help the body settle, and they track how their own responses change.
- Days 1–6: Learn the daily 6-minute practice and record how you feel before and after.
- Day 7: Try a one-breath "cue" on its own and compare.
- Days 8–12: Apply the practice to small, everyday stressful moments.
- Day 13: Receive your personal progress report.
- Day 15 onward (paid membership): A new lesson each week for 90 days.
Everyone responds differently. Some people notice a change right away; others notice it gradually.
Our approach
Research in psychology and neuroscience has long shown that emotional responses can begin before conscious thought, and that mental imagery can influence emotional and physical responses. kage-lab turns these insights into a simple daily practice.
We are clear about what we do and do not offer:
- We do offer an educational self-care practice and a supportive community.
- We do not offer medical diagnosis, treatment, therapy, or advice, and our program is not a substitute for professional care.
About the founder
kage-lab is led by Seiji Kageyama, a certified social worker in Japan with 20 years of experience in welfare and care settings, including directing elder-care and public assistance facilities. His approach grew out of that work and out of his own recovery from a period of severe stress. His personal story is one person's experience, and we present it as such.
